Walnut Wonder in Venice

It’s always interesting to see the homes that architects design for themselves. Architect Ron Radziner of Marmol Radziner & Associates designed this home for  his wife, graphic designer Robin Cottle, and their two children.   It happens to be located right down the street from where I live in Venice, CA.   This home has a lot of wood.  Walnut ceilings, cabinets, and built-ins too. But it works.  I love it when wood is used almost to excess and it works this well.   The H- shaped layout of this house lends itself to an indoor/ outdoor style of living that's perfect for Venice.  This is the kind of house I would hate to leave, even to go to the grocery store.
