Ciclavia

This weekend is the annual CicLAvia event in Downtown Los Angeles.  If you're never heard of it, CicLAvia is an awesome day when the city streets are closed to cars/ buses/ trucks or anything that moves except bicycles.  This year the route starts downtown and heads all the way to Venice.  I participated in the first LA event a few years ago and it was such an incredible day.  The traffic in this city can be extremely intimidating when you're on a bike, so I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday than pedaling through LA on a sunny day without having to worry about getting run over by a semi.  Plus I get to ride the new bike my husband got me for my birthday this year.  It looks so great with my Carrie Bike Basket too, which (obviously) is of major importance.  CicLAvia starts at 10am and the roads will stay traffic-free until 3pm, so If you're around this Sunday hop on a cruiser and check it out!

On another note, these beautifully simple wooden bike hooks pictured are by the German company Fluoshop.  Such a great idea for city dwellers needing a little extra space- especially if your bike is good looking enough to stare at.  Check out more of Fluoshop here.
